3rd year, Political Science/Sociology Double Major, Legislative/Organizing Branch of XO, SLATE: ReVAMP

Hi all, I am Lindsey Huizar, a Political Science/Sociology major from West Covina California. I am currently running for next years External Vice President. It has been my pleasure to learn about the External Office this year and its function by being both in the Legislative and Organizing Branch. This has given me the exposure in which I feel comfortable enough to continue the work the XO (External Office) has been doing for the last years. As a current member, we have been working on transiting the work and making sure it’s sustainable for years to come. A lot of work will be done to make sure we will continue helping our service workers who do so much for us and truly run the UC from the background. I would also like to take my resources to make sure students are practicing their right to vote to give us the opportunity to hold our city and state officials accountable. Additionally, I would like to create a NEW and more inclusive environment at UC Merced by adding community members to the conversation; making sure UC Merced is giving as much to their community as we take from them. Lastly, I hope to make UCSA (UC Student Association, the voting voice of all UC campuses) understand that Merced isn’t here to be disinvited from the conversation anymore.
