Treasurer Candidates

Angel Bautista Borge

3rd year, Economics: Finance and Strategy with a minor in Philosophy, ASUCM Sentor At-Large

Hello! First off I would like to thank you for taking the time to read about my interest for the position as ASUCM Treasure for the 2018-2019 academic year. My name is Angel Bautista Borge and I will be a senior next year majoring in Economics with an emphasis in Finance and Strategy with a minor in Philosophy. What makes me qualified for the position is my experience as ASUCM Senator. Through the year I had a lot of up and downs during as a senator but I learned so much especially being a voice for students and creating change based on students needs. In addition, I have also worked as part of the Treasure’s Staff in which I worked alongside the current Treasurer and helping her develop her projects as well as plan the budget for the next academic year. Now what I plan to do is go in-depth into the students' savings account we have in the ASUCM budget which is essentially a savings account for a student union we will eventually have one day. However, I believe that this money can be better used on campus for registered clubs and organizations to use. This way we get better use of all the funds we have accessible to us. Lastly, when making the budget for the 2019-2020 academic year I would like to prioritize organizations that are requesting money for the first time. Not saying there will be first on the priority list but I would like to have more new clubs/organizations get funding to get their name out on campus to make students aware of their club/organization. This way as more students attend UC Merced they have a variety of clubs/organizations to choose from.
