Slates

Re-VAMP (Vocalize, Action, Manifest Power)

Lindsey Huizar, Marissa Martinez, Stacey Ascencio

This slate was founded by three womxn of color who felt the current structure of the Associated Students of the University of California, Merced, was not adequately serving its students or advocating for students. Re-VAMP aims to center the adversities of students on campus and create a critical Associated Students that holds administration, and itself, accountable to students, faculty, and workers. Lastly, our slate aims to increase transparency not only between student’s population, but between members of the organization itself. Our slate was founded upon these three pillars: advocacy, institutional reform, and centering community engagement.

H.D.C

Harriet Torres, Daniel Arandia Diaz, Cristian Velasco

Here with H.D.C., (Harriet, Daniel, and Cristian) our team understands the students’ frustration with the school and our goal is here in efforts to serve UC Merced, and the community. We strive to enforce more reliable transportation, expanding our resources available, and building a stronger relationship between the students and workers.

By expanding the CatTracks system, there would be more buses available to diminish the number of students that are left behind by an impacted bus, and arrive late to class. We plan to stop overcrowded buses from being a reason to not be present in class. In addition, with more resources at hand, we would see that our organizations, including cultural organizations, will now improve their performance and be better equipped. Lastly, this school is essentially run by students and the staff workers and by having a strong relationship between both we can advocate for each other in times of need.

Ultimately, H.D.C. wants to provide the students and workers with the voice they deserve, and the action they want to see happen; as potential members of Senate, we want to unify the body of UC Merced to create the most positive outcome for all.
